About
I believe that cognitive health, mental health, and quality of life should be optimised in ageing. I am a clinician researcher, and as a registered clinical neuropsychologist, my research focuses on cognitive health, mental health and well-being, and quality of life in ageing, with a specialisation in dementia and psychiatric disorders.
I am a principal research fellow at the National Ageing Research Institute and The University of Melbourne. I have a strong academic output with a skills in translational clinical research, including in leading protocol development, clinical trial implementation and management (including multi-site randomised controlled trials) and mixed-methods research. I also have demonstrated skills in co-design methodology and stakeholder and consumer engagement, which enable my research to be effectively communicated and translated. I have won awards for my work, and am committed to collaboration and engagement with policy makers, the aged care industry, and most importantly, those that stand to benefit most from my work- older people, and those who are at risk for, or are living with dementia and mental health issues.
I was awarded the Dementia Australia Research Foundation Dr Stuart & Bonnie Bartle Mid-Career Research Fellowship for a project aiming to improve the way research evidence is translated into clinical practice, called: Closing the gap from evidence to practice to enhance dementia care: Using change management and implementation science.
I am a Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP) with APMG International.
I serve on the Alzheimers Association ISTAART Advisory Council, am a Board Member of the Australian Association of Gerontology, and a Royal Society of Victoria Councillor. I was Vice President of Science & Technology Australia (STA) – Australia’s peak body in science and technology, who represent more than 80,000 scientists and technologists. I am one of 60 scientists selected nationally to be a 2019-2021 Superstar of STEM – an initiative by STA that focuses on advanced communication skills. I was also one of 80 scientists selected globally for Homeward Bound Program in 2019, a global leadership, strategic. and science initiative for women.
