About
I am a glaucoma specialist and cataract surgeon at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital in Melbourne, with private practice at Melbourne Eye Specialists, Vision Eye Institute Footscray and Geelong Eye Centre. I graduated from the University of Edinburgh and completed my ophthalmology training in various centres of excellence in the United Kingdom, including Norwich and Aberdeen. Subsequently, I furthered my glaucoma subspecialty training in Geneva, Switzerland and Wellington, New Zealand before taking up my current posts.
In my clinical practice, I always strive for the best outcomes by practising patient-focused and evidence-based medicine applied to the highest international standards. Throughout my career, I have successfully achieved a proven track record of surgical and clinical excellence in cataract and glaucoma surgery.
I am actively involved in the training of junior ophthalmologists, from basic clinical science all the way to complicated cataract surgery and complex glaucoma management. I am also very passionate about the concept of ‘proactive glaucoma’, whereby we proactively manage glaucoma risk through lifestyle changes and nutritional supplements for neuroprotection. I retain a significant academic interest in surgical techniques and ocular imaging, and have over 70 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
I am an Honorary Researcher at the Centre for Eye Research Australia, Honorary Senior Lecturer for the University of Melbourne, Honorary Ophthalmologist and Lecturer for the Australian College of Optometry, and a member of the Glaucoma Australia Expert Advisory Panel.
